Technical Week 1st December - 5th December

1st December

Today was the first day of the technical week we started by rehearsing in the space and also starting to use the lighting we had already plotted till Luis came for health and Safety once Luis came we started running thought from the beginning programming in the lights as well as using Qlab for the backgrounds.

While I was on stage Luis did any changes to the lights with me giving him a hand and once I was off stage i was Programming in the lights and operating the follow spot and rigging any specials that we needed at the time, and we couldn't rig without the cast on stage.

Overall the day was very Productive and due to me and Luis rigging the week before allowed us to get into the theatre on the Monday and that doesn't normally happen on a tech week. So at the end of the day all act one and some of act two was lit and therefore we were able to rehearse in the space allot more.

2nd December

28th November 2014

Today after our singing lesson we did a full run though with philip in the theatre with also using some of the lights that I had already programmed with Luis. During the run we were able to perform the songs and dances in the space this gave us a real idea of how much space we had and how much space we wouldn't of had.

I thought the run went good but i didn't manage to get the timing for single ladies 100% right the first couple of times and we also needed to rehearse the song sheet and make up a real plan for what we were going to do so it was always entertaining for the audience.

27th November

Today Was our last rehearsal before technical week , So everyone decided that we would run from act 2 , even though i did agree with working on act 2 due to it being the weakest act but I did want us to have run the whole show due to going over act 2 allot because we needed to improve it allot. We had Philip for the whole run of act 2 starting with single ladies but was starting to get worried not having my heels yet  and having to do all the dances in them.

We ran act 2 and realised that it did need allot more work due to some lines not being read correctly and also songs and choreography not being  learnt this is worrying and stressful that the last rehearsals allot of mistakes are still happening.

We then decided that we needed to run act 2 again to improve people lines and just running the whole of act 2 together with the songs and the dances.

Overall I think the rehearsal went ok and act 2 did defiantly improve but we should have been in this position after half turn so we could work on the sharpness of the panto but at the moment the lines are not always right and the characterization is not all there. I think it really needs to improve and hope with costume it will.

21st November 2014

Today we Finished the Zipardy doo daa Dance thankfully Elouisa had taught me what they had learn't last time while I was at a dentist appointment. We started by going over from the top to where the learn't up to last time, this helped me allot because it allowed me to practice with everyone and add a bit of character to the start of the piece.

Shelley then choreographed the next part of the song till the end the movements were simply but also allowed us to work on the slickness off the movements. I did like having simpler movements because in the show I would have to perform the dance in high heels. At the end of the lesson we practised the song with Philip this also helped us so we could practise the song while singing and also with the correct tempo music.

20th November 2014

Today we were all off book and we started to run the show with the songs and dances that we had already choreographed if we were not on the stage we all helped each other Alex started to choreograph All the single ladies with the people who weren't on stage this really helped with people not getting distracted by there phones and people did really get into the work.

Also having Philip in the lesson really did help as Philip was able to get an idea for the show but also allowed us to practice a run of the show without having to use backing tracks and actually use the tempo I think this also made people realise how near the panto was.

13th November 2014

Today Rob came into our class to help us with the jokes and audience interaction and characterization of certain characters. This was supposed to happen in robs lesson on the Wednesday but because of only a couple of us turning up, I asked rob would he be able to attend Thursdays lesson to help with everything.  We started to run act one and straight from the start rob really helped picked up the energy of the show by  interacting us on stage. Rob also helped by adding some jokes and highlighting specific movements to stand and and really help with the character.

We also During the lesson defiantly found out that Robia would not be coming back to college and therefore would not be performing luckily Tracy had already asked Elliot . I was happy about this due to having worked with Elliot before and know that he would put in the effort needed and would play the role well.

Overall I think this lesson went well because it gave everyone a proper feel of what it was like to have an audience and also helped people with there characters.

11th November 2014

Today I wasn't able to do the rehearsal do to having a dentist appointment but before i left i gave out the rehearsal schedule that we all agreed on.

While I missed the rehearsal I will defiantly get ask for someone to teach me the dance to zippardy doo daa before the next lesson.

Thursday 6th November 2014

Today we Run the whole of act 1 without using any scripts firstly it started off quite well due to us having rehearsed the first scene so many times. But after the first couple of pages it was obvious that people didn't fully know there lines this slowed down the flow of the run and also we had to start and stop because people blocking was off and people forgetting where to move and how they would move around the stage with each other and on there own.

At the end of the lesson Tracy spoke to us about how she wasn't happy with some people performances due to people not knowing there lines and also needing to improve on there characterization skills. Some people in the class didn't agree with what Tracy was saying. But I believe that people do need to start plucking up with there idea's and also putting the effort in with there characters. I am starting to get stressed about the panto because I am putting allot of effort in with lighting and lines, but other people don't seem to be trying as hard.

Panto Rehearsal 23rd October 2014

 Today was Review week so we went over and practised and started to create the ballet dance of lady in red with mandy . everyone who turned up to lesson each put in a dance move , i added a rise and then we started to create the chorus of lady in red. once we created the chorus bit for lady in red we kept going over and over it and working on the technique. The important things to remember are to point my toes maintain my turnout and the correct hand positions.

panto rehearsals16th october 2014

Today we Started to Block Act 2 and working on the entrances and the exits of the characters and also how they should move around the stage we also went over how people should be talking to the audience and each other and other basic acting skills. I think today did help people realise and concentrate more on moving around the stage. I did have to leave early due to Les Miserables rehearsals.

panto rehearsal 9th October 2014

In today's lesson we ran act 1 with the blocking this did allow me to get further on in my blocking in the script but did take more time because of the rehearsal director not writing down my  blocking i had to go back and go other some things with Tracy in the scenes we were working on. I believe it went well but i do have cause for concern for the dances. Half way thought the lesson i had to leave because of Les Miserables rehearsals.

Panto Rehearsal 2nd October 2014

Today I was only in for half the Lesson due to Les Miserables Rehearsals But the time I was in we started to block act 1 I enter from stage left talking to the wings then notice red riding hood , I wasn't sure that this would look right but wouldn't no how it would look till later on in the rehearsal process. Then stay in center stage and talk the Red and Jack and Jill. once finished there i exit dsr. The i sat down and highlighted my lines while waiting to go on again sadly i had to leave before my next bit in the script.

September 25th New script

Today we got given two different scripts Little red Riding Hood and Puss in Boots and got the choice to pick between the two scripts we had to vote in the class what script we wanted to do based on the roles we would play. In both scripts I would be playing the dame but in Puss in Boots the dame would be a very panto dame and I also believe that the script was allot stronger and better written. But sadly it came down a vote where the dances over voted the musical theatre people and because they all wanted a big part they decided to pick little red riding hood another reason for people picking it was because Shelley wanted to do puss in boots so they said they are not doing that. So people picked Red Riding hood.

Then we started reading through the script I thought it was a weak script but still had pertentual but am worried about the dances playing bigger roles because of allot of them never acting before. Half way thought the lesson I had to leave due to Les Miserables Rehearsals.
